Archaeologists
have discovered Sabzevar second fire temple which
dates back to the Sassanid era.
Mir Mozaffar fire temple which is recently
registered as a national Iranian heritage is the
second fire temple discovered in Sabzevar after
Azar Barzin.
The square dome fire temple is located along King
Road, one of the key ancient roads of Iran, and
according to archaeologist with Iranian Cultural
Heritage and Tourism Organization (ICHTO)
department of Khorasan Razavi province, is smaller
than the famous Azar Barzin fire temple.
The temple is located on a mountain and is
completely made of stone. It includes several
cellars, tombs, and military posts. There is a
sacred spring nearby which people believe cures
maladies and grants wishes. The spring brought
people to the area and led to the construction of
residential structures, fortresses, and prisons.
